Editorial Veteran and Web Multimedia Expert
Joins Triangle Publishing as VP/Editor-in-Chief
Technology Journalist To Oversee Triangles Patent-Pending Web Technologies
and Editorial
Content Services
Newton,
MA, January 9, 2001 Triangle Publishing Services Co. Inc., a leading
content provider of print and multimedia-based business and technology
editorial, circulation and sales/marketing support, announced today the
appointment of Evan Schuman as VP/Editor-in-Chief.
A veteran
of more than 20 years of editorial coverage ranging from network radio,
wire services and daily newspapers to technology publications and Web
sites, Schuman joins Triangle as the corporation is moving to increase
its multimedia offerings as well as expand its print and Internet editorial
products beyond its Information Technology (IT) base. Among the areas
that Triangle will be focusing more attention on are healthcare and finance,
Triangle said.
"Triangle
was a pioneer in the corporate Web site content creation business, but
our clients needs are changing and we need to bring in different
skills," said Triangle founder and CEO Larry Marion. "Evans
background in network broadcast and streaming audio and video are key
to guaranteeing that our media and vendor clients will be able to communicate
using the most effective technologies available."
Triangle
also has been generating more traditional print editorial products than
ever, for publishers including CMP Media, International Data Group (IDG)
and BusinessWeek (see separate
release), as well as customized print and Web products for companies
such as Microsoft, Compaq and Oracle. "The reason I felt this was
such a fit was because Evan is not merely a Web multimedia specialist,
but hes as much a print editorial veteran as the rest of us."
That
print experience was racked up in recent years from Schumans editorial
management roles during his 11 years at CMP Media, where he served in
a variety of posts including News Editor for InformationWeek, Managing
Editor/News for Open Systems Today, Editor-in-Chief of the Internet
Business Report (newsletter), News Editor for TechWeb and Editorial
Director for CMP Custom Publishing. Before CMP, his bylines appeared in
daily newspapers ranging from The New York Times (national desk),
USA Today and The Baltimore Sun to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Detroit News. He also reported
for the three major wire services (AP, UPI and Reuters) and his voice
was heard reporting national news on radio networks including CBS, ABC,
NBC, CNN, National Public Radio, Canadian Broadcasting Company, Mutual
Broadcasting, AP Radio and UPI Radio.
After
leaving CMP, Schuman ran his own editorial/marketing consulting business,
where his clients included Intuit, IBM, Cable&Wireless, Capital One,
J.P. Morgan, Con Edison and OKI Data, as well as a wide range of media
clients including CMP, Ziff-Davis, Lebhar-Friedman and Penton Media (where
he launched Internet World Radio). Triangle has also acquired Schuman
Technology Editorial Consulting and its assets.
"I
am thrilled to be joining Triangle at this exciting point in its development,"
Schuman said. "Internet technologies are rewriting the way media
companies and vendors need to communicate with their readers and varied
audiences. What makes Triangle different is that it can offer a much more
diverse range of editorial services. Try and find a company that can truly
deliver soup-to-nuts customized streaming audio, from concept to journalistic
interviews, digital editing, narration, re-editing, encoding and transmission.
But the most important attribute Triangle has is that we help clients
understand the most effective times to use each technology. Certain concepts
are most effectively presented to the ear, others for the eye and yet
others a mixture. Using multimedia doesnt make sense if thats
an ineffective method of communicating that particular message."
Founded
by Larry Marion in 1994, Triangle officially incorporated in October 2000
and filed two of its Internet technologies with the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office this past spring. The Multimedia Feature Article™ (MFA) is
a method of integrating video, text, voice and screen images and was co-invented
by Schuman and Marion. The second Triangle patent-pending product is the
Interactive Analysis Tool™ (IAT) a sophisticated interactive
calculator designed for IT users and business-to-business Web sites.
